Distinctive Communities... Powerful Alliance
Founded in 1968, the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns represents all 39 municipalities across the state. Like similar municipal associations in nearly every state, the League was established to give local governments a united voice before the General Assembly. Over time, our role has expanded. Today, we advocate not only at the State House but also before executive and administrative agencies. We provide technical assistance, share timely information and research and offer training and workshops to help local officials succeed in their work. Just as importantly, we create opportunities for municipal leaders to collaborate, exchange ideas and learn from one another. As an official member of the National League of Cities, we are part of a nationwide network working to strengthen local government. Closer to home, we remain committed to ensuring Rhode Island’s cities and towns have the tools, resources, and advocacy they need to serve their communities. The League’s work is guided by an executive of municipal officials and carried out by a dedicated staff, all focused on advancing the interests of Rhode Island’s municipalities. |
