Training Opportunities & Resources

From newly elected council members to seasoned mayors and members of school committees, the job of an elected official requires an understanding of the fundamentals including: 

• Managing the Transition from Campaigning to Governance
• Ethics for Elected Officials
• Risk Management
• Municipal Finance and Fiduciary Responsibility 
• Acting in a Public Capacity: Open Meetings and Access to Public Records

Each January after a major election cycle, the League co-sponsors an orientation session for councils and school committees that address the topics mentioned above. The League also provides topical trainings through our online Workshop Wednesday program, all recorded and posted to our YouTube Channel.
