New Executive Director



Long-time municipal leader Randy Rossi to lead the organization

Providence, R.I. – The Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns announced that Randy Rossi will serve as the organization’s next executive director after approval by the executive board. He will begin later this fall, succeeding Ernest Almonte who will retire on December 31, 2024. 

 

For over 20 years, Rossi has worked in municipal government, currently serving as the town manager of Smithfield. Prior to that role, he was the finance director for the towns of Smithfield and Foster, and the treasurer for the City of Cranston.

 

“The League serves as a crucial partner to Rhode Island’s 39 cities and towns providing support, advocacy and protecting the taxpayers of our great state,” said Randy Rossi, the League’s incoming Executive Director. “I am looking forward to building on the progress the League has made over many years and am grateful to be a part of its future.”

 

Rossi served on the executive board of directors for the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns and the New England States Government Finance Officers Association (NESGFOA), a trustee and Vice Chair for the Rhode Island Interlocal Risk Management Trust, and is a member of the Rhode Island City and Town Manager’s Association. He was the R.I. League of Cities and Towns’ appointment to the Advisory Council for Locally Administered Pension Plans and the State Planning Council. Rossi is also past president for the NESGFOA, Rhode Island Government Finance Officers Association, and Rhode Island Municipal Purchasing Agent Association.

 

Mr. Rossi received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant College, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University, is a Certified Government Financial Manager, and is an International City Management Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager. He is a native of Rhode Island and currently resides in Smithfield with his wife Brooke and two daughters, Reese and Rori.
